How to use Joomla
Joomla is the most popular content management system (CMS) on the internet, and is also one that we commonly implement on websites we create.
With Joomla, it is relatively simple to update your own website. There isn't a need to know HTML or any web programming for simple changes such as adding new pages, adding text, images, links to pages and adding menu options. However, some of the more involved changes and updating, such as the settings for modules & plug-ins along with template changes, might be best left to us...unless you are an experienced Joomla user, or if you are a technology sponge and want to learn how to do it yourself...if so, you can visit this site to view some tutorials: http://www.joomlatutorials.com.au
Here are some direct links to a few tutorials on how to make simple changes to your Joomla 1.5.x site.
- Logging in: Type in your website URL followed by a /administrator. Example: www.silverleafdesign.net/administrator
- How to add a new page (article) to your site.
- Add a new internal menu link within an existing menu.
- Add a new external menu link within an existing menu.
- How to manage images.
If you have a Joomla 1.6.x site, there are some tutorials here: http://www.joomlatutorials.com.au/joomla-tutorials/joomla-16x.html
If you have a Joomla 1.7.x site, we are working on providing tutorials and they should be up soon. Until then, you can always Google, "Joomla 1.7 tutorials".
(if you aren't sure what version of Joomla your site is on, from the top of the page within Joomla, you can go to: Help > System Info)
